Trulioo Launches Explainable Risk Scoring for AI Leaders and Other Enterprises Vetting Business Customers

October 15, 2026

As leading AI labs commit to stronger controls and auditing, Trulioo introduces evidence-backed risk scoring to help vet business access to frontier models

SAN DIEGO, California, October 15, 2026 – Trulioo, a global provider of identity verification and fraud prevention, today announced Business Risk Horizon, a new business risk scoring capability within its global platform. Horizon traces ownership through corporate structures and flags sanctioned owners or ties to restricted jurisdictions. Each score includes a plain-English explanation to help teams document and defend their access decisions.

A leading AI lab has contracted with Trulioo as an early Horizon adopter to help decide which businesses can access its models. The announcement follows the September 29 White House accord, in which leading AI companies committed to stronger internal controls and auditing.

“The riskiest businesses are built to look ordinary on paper,” said Zac Cohen, Trulioo’s Chief Product Officer. “Ownership runs through layers of entities across jurisdictions, and the link to a shell company or sanctioned owner sits several steps back. Horizon traces those links to the people behind them and shows the evidence, so teams know who really owns a business before they grant access.”

The same approach can support risk decisions wherever an enterprise onboards a business. Business Risk Horizon combines global business verification data with compounding intelligence to give enterprises a clearer view of which risks they can manage, helping them pursue revenue opportunities they might otherwise decline.

Horizon also helps address onboarding costs. It flags potential fraud and businesses outside an enterprise’s risk appetite early, so teams can stop or escalate a case before committing to full review and activation. This can reduce unnecessary manual work, speed up decisions, and free analysts to focus on cases that require human judgment. Over time, earlier identification of unsuitable businesses can also help reduce long-tail losses.

“A higher-risk customer can still be a good customer if you understand the exposure and can manage it,” said Vicky Bindra, CEO at Trulioo. “We are building Horizon to give teams the evidence they need to make that judgment and decide which controls a business relationship requires.”

Evidence for Risk Decisions

Business Risk Horizon combines authoritative global Know Your Business (KYB) data with agentic research into a business’s operations and relationships. Every score includes a plain-English explanation of the underlying signals, helping analysts identify potential fraud early and explain their decisions.

Consider a business that looks legitimate on paper: its address exists, and its registration checks out. Horizon identifies dozens of other companies registered at the same address, several with owners linked to previously flagged businesses. That concentration can be routine in Delaware, where registered-agent addresses are common, but unusual in Sweden. Horizon assesses the pattern in the context of ownership and jurisdiction, then explains how those findings contribute to the score. Teams decide how to proceed under their own policies.

Beyond AI Labs

Horizon is also designed to support enhanced due diligence for payments companies and marketplaces assessing prospective merchants and sellers. A payment provider reviewing a pharmaceutical supplier, for example, may need to distinguish a legitimate business from one concealing illegal sales of controlled substances. Horizon provides signals about the business’s operational footprint, ownership relationships, and consistency across sources, with evidence to guide further review.

Trulioo plans to expand Business Risk Horizon over time to support business risk assessment across payments, marketplaces, financial services, and other industries.
